STRATEGIES AND TOOLS FOR ORGANIZING BLACK WOMEN IN POLITICS

Sister Citizens: Conversations with Black Women in US Politics and Media is a conversation series hosted by Professor Melissa Harris Perry and presented by The Anna Julia Cooper Center and Ms. Foundation for Women. Events will appear live on Facebook on select Thursdays throughout Fall 2023 at 6:30PM ET.

This series examines Black women’s participation in American politics as citizens, residents, voters, activists, candidates, elected officials, and media makers. The event on September 14th will feature Stefanie Brown James, C-founder and Executive Director of The Collective PAC and VP of Communication and External Affairs at Higher Heights for America, Aprill O. Turner.

As part of this dynamic conversation, Prof. Melissa Harris-Perry will talk with guests about unleashing the full potential of Black women voters, organizers, and candidates. Our dialogue will explore strategies for amplifying the voices of Black women, advancing equitable representation, and creating a more inclusive American democracy.
